Thank you for your interest in auditioning for The Singers!
(Update 4/4/15: There are no soprano openings at this time. Altos (low), tenors, and basses are encouraged to audition!)
Membership in the ensemble is a very rewarding and enjoyable opportunity. Before requesting an audition, please see the calendar draft below and consider the time commitment and the feasibility of your participation. If you are able to commit to the full season, if selected, send your vocal/choral resumé to email@example.com.
The Audition Process
The first step in the audition process is the collection of choral/vocal resumes which need approval before auditions are scheduled. Resumes can be sent as a Word document, PDF, or in the body of an e-mail. All choral and vocal experiences should be listed with the names of the conductors and/or Artistic Directors.
Please send vocal resumes directly to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Singers may then be invited to a fifteen-minute initial audition which will include one prepared art song (any language), sight-reading (tonal and atonal), a prepared musical excerpt, and general vocalizations. Singers are asked to use The Singers’ staff accompanist for $15. Candidates will then be selected for the secondary group callback audition.
The Singers is a fully-professional choir. Rehearsals are on Monday nights from 7-10 PM, with occasional Thursday rehearsals, also 7-10 PM. Members receive a stipend for each rehearsal, concert, and recording session. It is preferable that auditionees have professional or collegiate choral experience on their resume. Members are responsible for purchasing their performance attire (women’s dress is approx. $70).
