
Concert #1: My Spirit Sang All Day: Music of the British IslesThe SingersMinnesota Choral Artists begin the 2006-2007 concert season with "My Spirit Sang All Day: Music of the British Isles." Benjamin Britten's Hymn to St. Cecilia and John Rutter's Hymn to the Creator of Light anchor a program that will also feature partsongs by Edward Elgar, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Gustav Holst, Charles Villiers Stanford, Gerald Finzi, and Robert Pearsall. Folk music from the Isles will round off the season-opening concert.
Concert #2: What Sweeter Music: Christmas with The SingersThe Singers share the stage with cellist Laura Sewell and harpist Judith Kogan as they welcome the holidays with a celebration of beloved carols and original works dedicated to the Christmas season. World-premiere carol arrangements by Abbie Betinis, Robert Sieving, and conductor Matthew Culloton are paired with other Christmas works by Steve Heitzig, Craig Carnahan, Kenneth Jennings, René Clausen, and Dale Warland.
Concert #3: Sharing the Spirit! The Singers and Guests Sing of ChristmasThe Singers are joined by the Central Minnesota Youth Chorale, Mora High School Concert Choir, and White Bear Lake HS Mariners conducted by Marie Spar Dymit in a holiday program geared for all ages. The Plymouth concert will also include choirs from St. Philip the Deacon. Sing along on well-known carols and share in the spirit of music making this holiday season!
Concert #4: An American FairMusic of American master composers Dominick Argento, René Clausen, Norman Dello Joio, Stephen Paulus, William Schuman, Halsey Stevens and Eric Whitacre is presented along with folk music arrangements by Robert Shaw and Alice Parker, Moses Hogan, and William Dawson.
Concert #5: My Soul's Repose: The Singers at The BasilicaReturning for their third annual concert in this beloved venue, The Singers will present a program of contemplative, soul-stirring choral music. Works include Cyrillus Kreek's Four Psalms of David, motets of Wolfram Buchenberg, and a world premiere by Minneapolis composer Jocelyn Hagen. Other classic choral works will complete this memorable evening of music making.
Concert #6: A Choral Collaboration with Choral Arts Ensemble, RochesterThe SingersMinnesota Choral Artists are excited to collaborate with the Choral Arts Ensemble of Rochester in a unique concert event. Twin brothers Matthew and Michael Culloton bring their choirs together for the first time! The Singers under Matthew's leadership will present spring delights by Claude Debussy, Paul Hindemith, and Rene Clausen, as well as a world premiere by composer-in-residence Joshua Shank. Choral Arts Ensemble led by Michael will present music of Benjamin Britten and Daniel Pinkham, with a premiere performance of a work by David N. Childs.
