AUDITION FOR 2026-2027

Artists in The Singers are teachers, parents, finance planners, retired, pastry chefs, spouses, recent college grads, lifelong singers – you name it! We are named after our remarkable core of artists who serve the community and the organization’s mission of building empathy and bridging divides through world-class music making.  

The Singers is a 40-voice professional choir founded in 2004, and we are welcoming auditions in all vocal sections as we search for artists with choral experience (collegiate, community, and/or professional experience encouraged), solid and flexible vocal technique, sight-reading proficiency, and keen artistic instincts. There is no fee to audition for The Singers.

The Singers organization is proud to offer 10-11 paid positions per section. The stipend is typically $250-$450 per concert project, and is meant to allow for artists to participate without financial barrier (i.e. transit costs, parking, etc.). The stipend is not to be considered an hourly rate for services provided.

Members of The Singers are expected to commit to the full concert season and may not miss projects because of participation in other ensembles.

Mon. 5/4: 6 – 9:30pm | Sat. 5/9: 10am – 2pm |  Mon. 5/11: 6 – 10 pm [FULL-no openings] | Thur. 5/14: 6 – 10 pm 

Callback Audition, by invitation (required): Thursday, May 28:

Altos 6:30 pm | Basses 7:15 pm | Tenors 8:00 pm | Sopranos 8:45 pm

Auditions will be held at House of Hope Presbyterian Church (797 Summit Ave, St. Paul) in the Education Wing.

Rehearsals and Activities
Rehearsals are held on Monday evenings (with Thursday dress rehearsals) from 7:00 – 9:30, September through May. The primary rehearsal venue is at House of Hope Presbyterian Church in St. Paul, where The Singers are Artists-in-Residence, and our offices are housed. Full schedule is in the Audition Packet.

The Singers’ organization strongly encourages audition submissions from minority group members, persons with disabilities, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and anyone who can add to the artistic merit and vision of The Singers!

THREE-STEP AUDITION PROCESS

1.  Complete the audition form linked below. It asks for your basic information (voice type, resume upload, choral experience, etc).

2. Once you’ve submitted your choral/vocal resume, you will receive an e-mail from the Artistic Staff [auditions@singersmca.org]. A scheduling link will be shared and you should sign up for your in-person audition as soon as possible. All materials and information that you need to know for your audition can be found in the Audition Packet. 

3. An in-person callback will be held on the evening of Thursday, May 28, 2026. Details will be shared in the callback invitation.

The short musical excerpts are included in this audition packet. Please follow all tempo, dynamic, and miscellaneous directions. Enjoy the process of preparing these excerpts. Both of these excerpts are fair representations of what you would encounter in The Singers.
