Thank you for your interest in The Singers, led by Artistic Director Matthew Culloton! The Singers is a 40-voice professional choir founded in 2004, and we are welcoming auditions in all vocal sections as we search for artists with choral experience (collegiate, community, and/or professional experience encouraged), solid vocal technique, sight-reading proficiency, and keen artistic instincts. There is no fee in order to audition for The Singers.

The Singers’ organization strongly encourages audition submissions from minority group members, persons with disabilities, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and anyone who can add to the artistic merit and vision of The Singers!

AUDITION PROCESS

Deadline: Wed. May 25, 2022

An online Audition Form will ask for your name, address, voice part preference, etc. It is on this form that you will be able to upload the items necessary for consideration.

1. RESUME SUBMISSION (PDF or Word Doc)

This need not be a formal document, but should list all choral singing and vocal study that you have experienced (from high school onward). Please include the names of conductors and the years that you were involved with the choirs or voice studios.

2. AUDIO SUBMISSIONS (mp3)

a. Art Song (16-24 bar excerpt is fine. Please introduce composer and title)

b. Two Prepared Musical Excerpts: Your preparation of both excerpts should be at a performance level.

Prepared Excerpt 1 – Handel: His Yoke is Easy from Messiah.

Prepared Excerpt 2 – Argento: Walden Pond

The short musical excerpts are included in this audition packet. Please follow all tempo, dynamic, and miscellaneous directions. Enjoy the process of preparing these excerpts. Both of these excerpts are from works scheduled to be performed on the upcoming season, so they are fair representations of what you would encounter in The Singers.

AUDITION FORM SUBMISSION DEADLINE: The first round of materials should be submitted by 5:00 pm, Wednesday, May 25, 2022.

Finalists may be asked to do a one-on-one Zoom session with Artistic Director Matthew Culloton, by appointment, or attend an in-person callback if necessary (mid-June 2022). The offer of a position in The Singers is at the discretion of the Artistic Director.
