The Audition Process

The first step in the audition process is the collection of choral/vocal resumes which need approval before auditions are scheduled. Resumes can be sent as a Word document, PDF, or in the body of an e-mail. Please be sure to include the VOICE PART you sing most comfortably, and all choral and vocal experiences listed with the names of the conductors and/or Artistic Directors. ***Have your LAST NAME in the file name of your resume document (i.e. DOE.CHORALRESUME.PDF).

Please send vocal resumes directly to

Based on the resume and experience, a singer may then be invited to a fifteen-minute initial audition which will include one prepared art song (any language), sight-reading (tonal and atonal), two short, prepared musical excerpts, and general vocalizations.  Singers are asked to use The Singers’ staff accompanist for $15. Candidates will then be selected for the secondary group callback audition.

The Singers is a fully-professional choir.  Rehearsals are on Monday nights from 7-10 PM, with occasional Thursday rehearsals, also 7-10 PM. Members receive a stipend for each rehearsal, concert, and recording session. It is preferable that auditionees have professional or collegiate choral experience on their resume. Members are responsible for purchasing their performance attire.

*** Resumes are being collected for all voice parts.
