Call for Choral Scores – Due Aug. 19, 2013

OCTOBER UPDATE:

We apologize for the delay in getting word to the composers. We have received just over 400 scores, and it will likely be November before we are able to give a meaningful look to the works. Stay posted here!

10th Anniversary Season: Call for Choral Scores Needing First Performance

Due Date: Monday, August 19, 2013 (Scores will not be considered after this deadline)

No Application Fee

The Singers, a 44-voice professional chorus is seeking unperformed choral works, 3-6 minutes in duration. The work should be for chorus (no more than SSAATTBB divisi), a cappella or with piano accompaniment.  A cappella scores should have a piano reduction. Sacred and secular texts will be considered, and written permission must accompany any piece using text not in the public domain. Up to 6 works will be selected for a world premiere performance in June 2014.  Composers will be notified of selection status by October 1, 2013.

Composers can submit one or two scores for consideration by the selection panel.

Composers should only submit works that have not yet been performed, and selection as one of the finalists would require that the selected work be reserved for first use by The Singers.

There is no cash award, and travel stipends may be given to up to 2 of the performers depending on fiscal support of this program. Professional recordings will be made of the concerts, and composers will receive a copy for their use in promoting the work.

The panel will only review works sent as PDF documents to info@singersmca.org.
