The Singers Announce Conductor’s Lab
The Singers launches a new learning opportunity for high school choral educators
The Singers are proud to announce the launch of their new Conductor’s Lab program. Funded through a grant from ArtsLab (a program of Arts Midwest), the Conductor’s Lab is a new, cost free program offered to three high school choral educators during the 2013-14 school year. The program includes conducting masterclasses with Artistic Director Matthew Culloton and The Singers, classroom site visits, rehearsal observations in addition to self-evaluation, mentorship, and video documentation of the selected participants’ work.
Who is eligible?
All high school choir teachers currently employed in a metro area high school or who work 45 minutes or less from Minneapolis. The Conductor’s Lab is open to teachers at all career levels.
How will you benefit from the program?
Selected participants will create an individualized learning plan in collaboration with Dr. Culloton. Specific goals will be set and pursued throughout the program, including during masterclasses with The Singers and site visits/observations. Selected participants will also receive a professional-quality video recording to be used for future professional development.
What is the time commitment?
Dr. Culloton will meet with you for one-on-one mentorship, and then visit your school for two masterclasses with your upper-level ensemble. You will spend one evening observing at The Singers’ rehearsal and an additional evening participating in a 30-minute masterclass with The Singers. Rehearsals are on Monday evenings at Augsburg College in Minneapolis. You will spend some individual time for self-evaluation and program feedback. The activities will take place from February to May in 2014.
