AMERICAN TUNE: MUSIC FOR A TIME OF CHANGE [Oct. 12 & 13, 2024]
A true collage concert just weeks ahead of Election Day, the season starts with music of warning, resolution, and hope. Taking its title from Paul Simon’s reflection on the American experience, American Tune will examine themes confronting the country today, universally explored by composers across nations and time. Never before have The Singers shifted from Byrd to Bob Dylan, Britten to Paul Simon, or Mendelssohn to Joni Mitchell – it is a wonder to hear the timeliness of American songs in new, meaningful contexts.

WHAT SWEETER MUSIC: CHRISTMAS WITH THE SINGERS [Dec. 8, 14, 15, 2024]
With Min Kim, harp; Merilee Klemp, oboe
We specially remember Stephen Paulus – he would be 75 this year – and his remarkable music gifts that became an indelible part of our choral landscape. Three Nativity Carols, A Savior from on High, and Evensong are works that reflect his uncanny ability to capture texts and moods so brilliantly. Paired with his music will be world premieres by our former Composer-in-Residence Joshua Shank and Artistic Director Matthew Culloton. Don’t miss a most special Christmas concert with The Singers!

GWYNETH WALKER: CELEBRATING AN AMERICAN ICON [Feb. 8, 2025]
Gwyneth Walker so often captures the zeitgeist of the moment through her musical works and selection of texts. A proud New Englander, Dr. Walker has over 400 commissions to her credit and has been honored with two Lifetime Achievement Awards and an Alumni Award from the Hartt School of Music. Generations of choristers have found inspiration and humanity lodged between the pages of her sheet music – we’re thrilled to host her for this special event.

MY SOUL’S REPOSE: FRENCH CATHEDRALS [Mar. 15 & 16, 2025]

As the magnificent Notre-Dame Cathedral is returned to its glory, we turn our attention to sacred French works of Maurice Duruflé, Gabriel Fauré, Francis Poulenc, and Olivier Messiaen – a quartet responsible for some of the most harmonically lush choral music ever written! Before attention turns to Durufle’s masterful Requiem, we bask in the richness of Messiaen’s O sacrum convivium, delightfully angular motets of Poulenc, and Fauré’s Messe Basse. ORDER TICKETS

WHEN MUSIC SOUNDS [Apr. 27, 2025]

Enjoy an uplifting season finale with love songs from around the world! The Singers’ share Johannes Brahms’ delightful Liebeslieder Walzer (Lovesong Waltzes),Eric Whitacre’s Five Hebrew Love Songs, and John Rutter’s sonorous setting of Walter de la Mare’s poetry in When Music Sounds. Other works by Morten Lauridsen, René Clausen, Marques Garrett, and Karen Marrolli round out the concert and bring the subscription series to a joyful, hopeful close.
