The Singers open the 2009-2010 season with performances of Rachmaninoff’s monumental Vespers. From soaring soprano lines to the dramatic bass writing, this work has come to represent the finest of Russian choral literature.

World-renowned composer Morten Lauridsen will join the The Singers for a three-day celebration of his contributions to the choral art. The Singers welcome collaborations with the Cathedral Choir of the Basilica of St. Mary and some of Minnesota’s finest high school choirs.

The season closes by celebrating the sacred and earthly facets of love. Libby Larsen composed her suite, A Lover’s Journey for the King’s Singers, and The Singers are delighted to present one of the first choral performances of the score. Devotional love is presented in Henryk Gorecki’s mystical Totus tuus, while earthly love is represented via madrigals of John Wilbye. A world premiere work by Joshua Shank is paired with works by Tarik O’Regan and Eric Barnum.
