From the composer: “Six years ago I had an idea to write a choral cycle based on the planets. I’m excited to say the piece becomes a reality this spring – Helios is a 60 minute a cappella choral cycle inspired by our solar system…The libretto explores the theme of chaos vs. control using myth, science and faith, and it is made up of texts by Patricia Monaghan, Tony Silvestri, Julia Klatt Singer, Brian Newhouse, William Reichard, William Shakespeare, Ovid, Virgil and José Martí, with quotes from Henry Brooks Adams and Johann Christoph Friedrich von Schiller.”
