THE SINGERS APPOINTS NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Janette Davis joins the organization as The Singers launch season 18th

(St. Paul, MN) The Singers – Minnesota Choral Artists (“The Singers”) has enthusiastically appointed Janette Davis to the position of Executive Director.

Ms. Davis brings over two decades of arts and nonprofit leadership experience, having guided organizations through program growth, innovation, and strategic execution. As owner and Principal Consultant at The FlightDeck One Group (Minneapolis, MN), she has garnered success in program creation for underrepresented artists, deepening philanthropic relationships, and formalizing organizational practices and governance.  Prior to that, as President and Founder of Bridgeview Center (Ottumwa, IA), Ms. Davis led the development of a 92,000 sq. ft. performing arts and event center, managing the oversight of a $20 million dollar capital campaign.

“I could not be more thrilled to welcome Janette to our expanding leadership team,” said Matthew Culloton, Founding Artistic Director. “Her engaging spirit and proven record of success aligns perfectly with us as we complete our second decade of arts programming and launch into the next phases of our work.”

Ms. Davis is no stranger to the Twin Cities arts scene.  Her clients have included The Southern Theater Foundation, and composers Jocelyn Hagen and Timothy Takach, having also worked for The Guthrie Theater, IATSE, and University of Minnesota Department of Theater Arts, as well as serving on various arts boards throughout the state. Prior to consulting, Ms. Davis worked in advertising and public relations including The StarTribune, Pioneer Press and Minnesota Daily. She has a BA in Theater Arts & Communication from the University of Minnesota and received her Master of Public Affairs degree from the Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota.

“This has been a challenging time for arts organizations. Not all have been as tenacious and nimble as The Singers, who through digital offerings kept audiences engaged and encouraged at a time when we really needed arts,” says Davis.  “It’s hard to be bold, self-aware, and courageous especially during difficult times, but this is what drew me to The Singers. That and the unwavering commitment to excellence, education, new works, and elevating local talent.”

Tickets for The Singers 18th concert season are available at www.singersmca.org and include Dale Warland at 90, a Legacy Celebration honoring the celebrated career of Minnesota’s own Dale Warland and Considering Matthew Shepard.
